Busy Times and Busy Minds---by Robin

This is perhaps the busiest month of the year and I've notice quite a drop in the number of "hits" on this blog. So, I'm not sure if things have peaked and there is no longer any interest or if people are just busy.
There were so many hopes that we had when Deb and I started this web-site. We wanted to have a place to connect with not only each other but people who were traveling the same path as we did; the pathway of an organ recipient and to reach out to donor families. I question if we failed at both.
If my donor family should come across this site, I wish you well. It has been a bit over a year since you gave me life in your time of loss. Know that I will do my best to protect and care for that part of your loved one that we share.
Keep your spirits high...robin

  1. Robin, Debbie,
This is Ruth. Lost Robin's phone #. Dramatic decline in Terry. Contacted Marions Berry & Blanche Lincoln's office yesterday, as well as local media yesterday, in desperation. MD says only months, maybe weeks. Time is running out. Taking Terry to ER at VA in Memphis this morning around noon. Are told that if we do that, that VA will fly him to VA transplant center of our choice. Hoping for UAMS. Wishing for a Christmas miracle, as the two of you experienced your wonderful Thanksgiving miracle. My phone #'s are 897-7708,897-7709, 268-8740; daughther, Melanie, 870-273-6294. Wanted you to know. Please pray for us. We need all the prayers we can recieve right now. Debbie, we're doing pretty much as you did-just landing on their door steps. Much more to tell, just not enough time to tell it all in. Love to you both.
    Ruth

  2. Hi Robin...sorry you have not recieved many recent hits here, but know you are doing a good thing and that people will find you when they are meant to....I went through liver transplant and end-stage disease all alone except for my husband. and we knew no one else in the same situation, not having computer access at the time, and it was terribly scarey.

What we wouldn't have given to just know even 1 person who had successfully survived liver TP....

I got this link through the Nomads forum, by the way.

I actually had to have 2 transplants, as the 1st 1 rejected, and my situation was touch and go for a while, but was the hardest on my husband, as I was mostly unconcious during the wait.

So glad everything went so well for you....we are indeed blessed....

Keep up the good work.....Love, Lori

  3. Lori...Thank you for your comments. It meant a lot to me and was exactly the kind of response that assures me that we are doing "good" with this blog.

I'm not familiar with the Nomads forum. Can you provide me a link? Are you in Arkansas?

  4. Hi Robin

Glad I was able to help your spirits in any small way...I think it's wonderful what you are doing here.

Here is the link to their "welcome" page , and just click the "Click Here" link, and it will take you to the forum. You will need to register to access the forum. I think this is one of the very best forums for liver disease and Hepc ...also a forum there just for Transplant.

This is the link....just put it in your address bar and click "go".

I am not in Arkansas, but am very close...I live in Memphis TN. Are you anywhere close to us? Quite a few people being treated in Mempis are from Arkansas.

Hope you are keeping warm, as I know the weather is the same here as there, and it was 18 degrees last night!

Have a wonderful Chritmas....aren't we just SO blessed to be seeing more Christmases???

    Love, Lori

  6. Wow...Lori, I was initially seen in Memphis at Methodist but insurance wouldn't pay in-network there. I'm not that far from Memphis and maybe some day we can meet. Deb and I are doing the Liver Foundation "walk" in Nashville this spring. I hang out at HCVAnonymous.com but will check out the Nomad group. I also have a "friend" who is active in the UK with HCV. Best to you and have a great new year...keep your spirits high...robin
